「老いぼれ」と「dotard」

　deranged（錯乱した）、deny（否定する）、insult（侮辱する）はわが辞書ですぐ確かめられたが、dotardは『O-LEX』英和辞典（旺文社2013年）には記載なく、『GENIUS』英和辞典（大修館書店1994年）にはただ「老いぼれ」と説明あるのみ。

　なるほど現代ではほとんど使われていない用語であったか。「Dictionary.com 」でこの単語を調べると、
……a person, especially an old person, exhibiting a decline in mental faculties; a weak-minded or foolish old person.……
「老いぼれ」の意味ではある。それにしても国営朝鮮中央通信社（KCNA）は、古典に関する〈教養〉がある。
